Trees Suitable for Smaller Gardens – Pretoria National Botanical Garden. Department of Plant & Soil Sciences, University of Pretoria. An illustrated talk by Professor Braam van Wyk on choosing the ideal tree for your small garden. Examples of introduced and indigenous trees suitable for different purposes will be given, bearing in mind variation in their properties, including branching types and root systems. This event takes place in the Pretoria National Botanical Garden on Saturday, 28 March 2020.
Our gardens are getting smaller, therefore we need smaller trees to plant in our gardens. Professor Braam van Wyk will highlight various smaller tree considerations for smaller Gauteng gardens, as well as the care for these smaller trees. A list of indigenous trees suitable for these gardens will be given.
Pretoria National Botanical Garden – a 76 ha oasis situated in the eastern suburbs of South Africa’s administrative capital, Pretoria. The garden is home to the Head Office of the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) and successfully bridges the gap between scientific research and the recreational environment.
