Water Wise Landscaping. Water Wise Landscaping – Succulents:

Aloe arborescens: large beautiful flowers, attractive foliage, decorative form, easy to grow. Indigenous healing plant. The flowers produce nectar and are attractive to many kinds of birds, and bees.
Aloe dorotheae (Sunset Aloe): low-growing aloe, form clumps of rosettes about 10cm – 20cm that lie flat to the ground. Plant in full sun to light shade (colour much better in sun), and water occasionally to very little.
Aloe striatula: strong-growing climbing aloe whose native habitat is in mountain tops south of the Karoo region of South Africa. A tough and hardy plant, popular in gardens throughout the world. It can grow up to about 1.5m to 2m. One of the hardiest aloes, and will tolerate much colder temperatures than most Aloes, including frost and even some snow, but it prefers full sun and well-drained soil.
Cotyledon orbiculata (Pigs Ear): native to South Africa, has a number of medicinal uses. In the wild, it grows naturally in rocky outcrops in grassy shrubland and the Karoo region.
Crassula pellucida: versatile succulent ground cover. Shiny green leaves with small starry white flowers. Grows well in shade or sun, and works great in containers or hanging baskets. Drought tolerant.
Dyckia fragrans: grows best in full sun but can handle semi-shade. Drought-tolerant. Fragrant bloom giving it’s proper name.
Sedum reflexum: year-round blue-green foliage, produces a tall, stalked, yellow flower in midsummer. Needle-like leaves give the plant the appearance of a tiny conifer tree. Foliage takes on tones of purple in the coldest months. Widely used on green roofs in the northern U.S. because of its high sun and drought tolerance. This plant needs excellent drainage and may fade in unusually wet seasons.
